Terracotta, depending on the ingredients and how to produce has a great variety, some of which are suitable as filler materials and others because of its physical appearance and resistance used as facade. Some of the bricks due to the high quality used at strategic locations of the buildings that exposed to frost and some are suitable for flooring. The architect based on the characteristics of the consumer, will choose the correct bricks.
Accordance with Iran standard's number 7, terracotta used in facade should have the following characteristics:
Apparent disadvantages: brick must be free of physical defects such as cracks, efflorescence and so on.
Dimensions and sizes: length, width and thickness of the various blocks shall be in accordance with Table No.1. It should be noted that the tolerances of the brick when it is run will chafed and even by a special machine.
